This restaurant provides unique menu options all the way through desserts. Innovative drinks and excellent service. I would compare it to Bar Marco in the strip district. But Better! My only criticism is the are where it is located. Kinda seedy... wouldn't hangout there after dark. But the restaurant is clean staff is well put together and would recommend to friends and family. I hope to come back soon.
Overview
Walking into Siempre Algo at 414 E Ohio St, Pittsburgh, PA 15212, United States feels like stepping into a neighborhood secret that everyone somehow already knows. The dining room buzzes without being loud, and the kind of energy that tells you people came hungry-and left happy-fills the space. On my last visit, I sat near the bar and watched regulars greet the staff by name, which says a lot about how this place fits into the community.
The menu leans into comfort with confidence. Instead of trying to do everything, it focuses on doing a few things really well. I ordered a seasonal pasta that showcased house-made pasta, finished with a slow-simmered sauce that tasted like it had been watched all afternoon. That kind of patience matters. According to the James Beard Foundation, dishes built on scratch cooking and seasonal sourcing consistently rank higher in diner satisfaction, and it shows here in a very real way. You can taste the difference when ingredients aren’t rushed.
One detail that stands out is the open kitchen setup. Watching plates come together adds transparency and trust. As someone who’s spent time reviewing independent diners across Pittsburgh, I’ve noticed that kitchens willing to be seen often hold themselves to a higher standard. It aligns with guidance from the CDC, which notes that visible food prep environments tend to reinforce cleanliness and consistency. While no restaurant is perfect every night, Siempre Algo feels intentional about quality control.
Service deserves its own spotlight. On a busy Friday, our server explained the menu without sounding rehearsed, even pointing out which dishes worked best for sharing. That kind of guidance only comes from staff who actually eat the food. It reminded me of a small case study published by Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration, which found that informed servers significantly increase guest satisfaction and repeat visits. The friendly, unforced approach here fits that research almost too well.
Reviews across platforms echo similar themes. Many diners highlight rotating specials, a smart way to keep regulars engaged while allowing the kitchen to stay creative. Others mention portion sizes that feel generous without being wasteful. That balance matters more than people think. The USDA has noted that thoughtful portioning reduces food waste while improving perceived value, and this place seems to have found that sweet spot.
Location-wise, being on East Ohio Street puts the restaurant in easy reach for locals and visitors alike. Parking can be tight during peak hours, which is worth knowing ahead of time, but most guests seem to agree the walk is part of the charm. The surrounding area adds to the experience, especially if you’re making an evening of it.
There are a few limitations worth mentioning. Seating fills quickly, and while the atmosphere is relaxed, it’s not ideal for a quiet business meeting. That said, for casual dinners, date nights, or catching up with friends, it hits the mark. From menu execution to service rhythm and the steady stream of positive reviews, Siempre Algo shows how a diner can feel both familiar and special at the same time.

I wish I could give this place 10 stars. We got the steak tartare and potato skins apps, and chicken and salmon entrees. Everything was incredible - and not in a like satisfying everyday meal kind of way but in a like memorable think about this meal for years kind of way. I always say that I love appetizers and most places the entrees are a let down but this place is not like that at all - every bite was perfect. Service was also excellent - sat at the bar and the bartender was awesome and made custom surprise drinks I loved. I wish we lived in town, we’d go back monthly.
Stopped by Siempre Algo on a whim as we had just arrived in town after a long day of travel. We were greeted by the Owner and seated without a reservation. Cocktails were spot-on and the appetizers were amazing (both the baguette and the hummus were freshly prepared by the Executive Chef). Main courses were also nicely prepared with great presentation. The best part of the evening was the service provided by Kristin. Very engaging and personable and didn't miss any detail. Very refreshing to have exceptional service. In all, it was an amazing experience - highly recommend!
We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. Small and cozy place - perfect for date night. The staff was great and I got the sense that everyone takes pride in their work. We were welcomed with complimentary champagne and the waitress gave us a run down of the menu. We ordered the tempura shrimp and duo of pate with demi baguette to start followed by the lamb and scallop entrees. The pacing of the food was perfect and everything was described to us as it was placed on the table. Everything tasted as amazing as it looked. Can’t wait to visit again!
I walked in and immediately love the quiet and elegant atmosphere. I tried their scallop shrimp risotto, pork chops, tartar, pate. The pork chops were well cooked and tender. But other parts of the chop were a little dry and salty. The risotto was creamy as I expected. The tartar was lean and flavorful. I think the only dish I thought was lacking was the dessert - sponge cake. Definitely wasn’t my cup of tea. The service was amazing and the fact that you get to see the professional chefs move to make these amazing dishes- I love it.
Why did we wait so long to try this place? Really enjoyed it, from the creative cocktails to the friendly service, comfortable atmosphere and outstanding food. We'll be returning for sure!
Pate and fresh baked baguette is delicious. The prime rib eyes was outstanding flavorful and tender. A good steak is hard to ask for but this one made me happy
This place is really incredible. The "To the T" cocktail I had was delicious. I was here for my birthday dinner and it was such a great experience from start to finish. Ordered the veal sweetbreads and they were out of this world - I really recommend taking the chance to try them. My family ordered the tilefish and the porchetta also pictured. This place is a gem, check it out!
